This safe has its batteries INSIDE!!!! So if they fail - which they do unexpectedly at unpredictable intervals and with NO warning - you cannot open the safe! Yes, there is a key, but if you are going to have a key lying aroun, who needs a combination safe to begin with? And so far the company has totally ignored my communication to them.

I've had this safe for about month and put new batteries in it when i got it. It stopped working and in order to open it I have to purchase a key for 13 dollars. The quality of the metal for the safe is poor. The space inside of this safe is more than ample. Not a bad buy for less than 100 dollars, but I'm not happy about the troubling I'm having opening it.

Internal dimensions are: 42.5 cm wide, 33.8 deep, 21.5 high [16.7" x 13.3" x 8.5"].
Plenty of space for a laptop, plus small items heaped upon the upper shelf, right?
Well, no. You have to get the laptop through the door opening.
The door opening dimensions are: 37.7 cm wide, 16.8 high [14.8" x 6.6"]. However, the door hinge reduces the available width to 36.8 cm [14.5"].
A typical 15" laptop cannot fit straight through the door opening; it must be inserted at an angle and then leveled inside the box. To do that, the shelf must be removed, or somehow pushed up to make space for the laptop rotation.
In summary, the box is difficult to use for routine laptop storage.
Other than that, the box appears sufficiently secure for a college dormitory room. The cable could have been a little thicker, and the clasp catching the cable on the inside could have been a bit sturdier. One can use a heavier cable and lock it on the inside with a regular padlock.

I got this today and was surprised to see how cheaply it was made. I though spending $100 would get something. Not much of a safe at all. If that's what your after, this is for you.

This is my second Sentry safe, and like the first I'm extremely pleased with it. I wanted an affordable security safe that would comfortably fit two laptops (a 14" and 15") and other assorted valuables and this one fits the bill. It's well designed, extremely sturdy and has an easy-to-operate electronic keypad (uses 4 AA batteries) that opens with your chosen security code. The electronic keypad can be overridden by included keys in case you forget the code or the batteries die. (I've had this safe for over 8 months and the batteries are still going strong) There's a metal shelf inside that can be removed to store bulkier items. The floor of the safe has a gray carpet-like liner. One of the things that sold me on this safe that it can easily store two average size laptops and still have room for other things. Many of the other safes in this price range couldn't even fit one 15" laptop. The safe can either be bolted to the floor or wall (with included hardware) or secured to another object with the included metal cord. Since this is a "security" safe, that means it isn't fireproof. While it's sturdy and well-built, professionals would probably find their way in. However, for the purposes of safeguarding your valuables from casual theft in the home, office, schools, college dorms, etc., this is an excellent safe that is durable and does the job well.
